Talking Tintypes 1.9.5

Talking Tintypes is an innovative augmented photographic experience developed by Diné photographer Will Wilson. This project invites users to interact with a collection of photographs through an engaging technological interface.

To access the augmented reality (AR) content, users must be situated in a designated venue where the Talking Tintypes collection is displayed, such as a museum or gallery. Limited content can also be accessed online by visiting the artist's official website and navigating to the Talking Tintypes collection at willwilson.photoshelter.com.

This project represents a collaboration between Will Wilson, indigenous artists, community leaders, and the public, emphasizing the restoration of voice to still images. By integrating 19th and 21st-century technologies, Talking Tintypes fosters a dynamic interaction between historical archives and contemporary narratives, thus challenging traditional discursive authority associated with these archives.

Usage Instructions:

• Observe as the Talking Tintype comes to life on your device.
